Ten things that make July 4th in Arkansas GREAT!

1. You get to spend time with family with no distractions
2. Beaver Lake is huge and you feel all alone.
3. The water is smooth, even at 3:00 p.m. on a holiday
4. The high temperature in July was like 87-89 degrees every day
5. Fireworks are legal...and that means even REALLY big scary ones that you just know should not be shot off in a forest of trees
6. The laughing you get out of spectators when you shoot off really scary Stadium of Fire type fireworks that you just know should be illegal.
7. The incredible beautiful thunder and lightening show that you get in the evening after a great day on the water.
8. How tired all kids are (including adult kids) after a long day on water!
9. Not having to really shower, put make up on, or get dressed for 5 straight days.
10. The fact that no one knows just how awesome Arkansas is and that you feel like you have gone somewhere where so many people will just never see because it's so isolated!

We spent a couple of days in Arkansas last summer on our way home from a family reunion in Illinois, and I have to agree. It was so beautiful . . . much different that I imagined that it would be!
